The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International is a federation of 93 BOMA U.S. associations, BOMA Canada and its 11 regional associations and 13 BOMA international affiliates. Founded in 1907, BOMA represents the owners and managers of all commercial property types including nearly 10 billion square feet of U.S. office space that supports 3.7 million jobs and contributes $205 billion to the U.S. GDP. Its mission is to advance the interests of the entire commercial real estate industry through advocacy, education, research, standards and information. BOMA Alabama has been federated with BOMA International since 1927. Find BOMA International online at www.boma.org.

BOMA is a primary source of information on office building development, leasing, building operating costs, energy consumption patterns, local and national building codes, legislation, occupancy statistics and technological developments.

Throughout BOMA's long history, its goal has always focused on actively and responsibly representing and promoting the interests of the commercial real estate industry through effective leadership and advocacy, through the collection, analysis and dissemination of information, and through professional development.

REASONS TO JOIN BOMA ALABAMA

I. Advocacy:
BOMA International monitors legislation on a national level; keeping local organizations informed on pending legislation's effect on the office building industry. BOMA Birmingham tracks local issues and keeps members informed on what’s hot affecting life/safety, new construction, emergency preparedness and building codes among many others.

II. Networking:
BOMA Birmingham provides a great way to network with real estate peers, through monthly luncheon meetings featuring great venues and guest speakers.

III. Education:
BOMA Birmingham sponsors a library of BOMA publications available to all members. Other educational offerings include monthly guest speakers, teleconference seminars, half-day seminars, and regional & international conventions that feature many program choices to expand your knowledge of the industry.

IV. Designation Programs:
Working with BOMI Institute, BOMA Birmingham sponsors classroom instruction for members to earn professional designations including Real Property Administrator (RPA) and supports home study for the Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) and Systems Management Administrator (SMA).

V. Social:
Part of the BOMA Birmingham experience includes having fun with your peers through golf tournaments, cocktail parties with other trade organizations, luncheon meetings and an annual holiday party.
